A cure for phone interference

This should be filed under “why did I not know this before”.

Now as everybody knows, mobile phones constantly chatter to the network. So when you place your phone near some speakers, you can hear this happening.

Indeed this sort of interference can happen in all sorts of situations affecting televisions, speakers, wired phones and so on.

So in my home office I always had to be careful where I placed my phone because with 2 sets of speakers in the room, the interference was a problem. More often than not, during the day I would just turn my speakers off.

But then it happened. Purely by accident I found something that stopped my phone interfering with my speakers (and everything else in the room)

So there I was sitting at my desk and as usual my phone (which I had just made a call with) was causing interference so I put it down on my desk and straight away the noise stopped. When I looked, I had placed the phone down onto a CD that was on the desk.

So I have now played with this all around my office and the answer is clear.

If I place my mobile phone (any mobile phone) on top of a CD or DVD it stops interfering with speakers and the like in local area. Even when in a call, there is no interference.

I have no idea why but I do know that this works so if this is a problem for you, find a DVD or CD, place it on your desk and use it as a place to put down your mobile phone.

Looking around the Internet there seems to be lots of things you can buy to do this but this solution is free and is easy.

Now do I win a prize :-)
