Oh wow, such beautiful pictures! I miss Europe so much! I spent a summer there and I regret not traveling outside of Germany…Aww memories lol. Thanks for sharing! Definitely put a smile on my face! I’m new to blogging here and I just love how supportive and creative everyone is! If you have time, could you please check out my blog? http://shecooksandheeats.wordpress.com/ I would love some advice or feedback, and how to get more exposure
Great photos of Amsterdam.
I have never hitchhiked in Holland. I have heard that there are a lot more hitchhikers in Europe than in the United States. I have hitchhiked in the States, Ireland and Britain.

AMSTERDAM is cool and nice place to live.
Amsterdam is such a lovely city. It’s a shame it has such a nasty reputation. I can’t wait to explore it myself. Thanks for sharing!
It’s that very reputation that saw me visit on my own rather than with my family. My wife had no desire to visit the place.
Having now been there are certainly area’s you would not take young children but to be honest I felt totally safe all the time and outside of the few streets that make up the red light district its a very tranquil and pretty place.
Don’t let this misconception put you off.
Very nice blog. Beautiful pictures, beautiful website, what else can I say?
Oh, congrats for making it to Freshly Pressed, you truly deserve it…
lovely! i enjoy amsterdam very much. if you wish, you can find my photos taken in ams. here:

Dear Mark,
Thank you for these fabulous images of one of my favourite cities! You really grasped the spirit of it. What I love most about Amsterdam is the way of life, coffee – houses, sooo many bicycles, great art, and this international yet down to Earth flair. Another beauty, which is a small but cute version of Amsterdam, is Alkmaar, which is about 50 km further East driving along the coast.
Cheese – heaven, and really tres jolie.
Come on over next time !
I have to visit Amsterdam one day. It is definitely on the list.
Love Amsterdam too. I go there at least once a year. But then, I only live 2,5 hours (by train) away
It’s like a big village and I always feel at home there (friendly people, great little shops and places to eat, if you know where to find them). Last time, I visited the cat museum (www.kattenkabinet.nl/english.html), which is a small and tranquil museum located in a beautiful old house on one of the canals. A must-see if you love cats (their own cats also wander free in the museum) and art (and old buildings). So, there’s one of my (now not so) secret places in Amsterdam. I’ll put it in my blog now, too (already mentioned it here, so why not
).
What a gorgeous place!!Definitely one of my dream destination
Amsterdam is beautifull…i wish i can be there..

No wonder people love the place, it’s beautiful!
Congratulations for making it to the freshly pressed. You did great shots from Amsterdam. People like me don’t often have the opportunity to travel so thanks to bloggers like you for providing us glimpses from every beautiful corner in the world.

Lovely lovely pictures!!
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed. Can those white shutters on the tall building close? Would they be closed for bad weather? Or are they just for show? Just wondering.
Oh, thanks for the wonderful memories of Amsterdam. It’s one of my favorite cities. Congrats on Freshly Pressed.

Lovely cities and lovely people. Wish could be there someday!
Beautiful pictures! I wish I can visit Amsterdam one of this day.
Congratualtions on making freshly pressed! I’ve been dying to be on that forever lol. I absolutely love amsterdam, I haven’t been there since i was 15 but i have the fondest memory of hiding out in the door way of a small church because there was rainstorm that attacked us out of nowhere and I saw this guy with his umbrella get blown down the street.
lovely pictures.

Very nice
Great photos, especially the red flowers in the boxes covered in graffiti. I went once, a few days after Queen’s Day, when there was a half dismantled Ferris Wheel in the square and bright orange flags everywhere. Surreal.
Lovely your photos. Can’t wait to visit myself
thanks for sharing! i can’t wait to visit amsterdam myself…hopefully good pictures, good pot, and good people

Amsterdam! The place I am still trying to get to! Great images, congrats on the FP.
Beautiful shots! I’ve been through Amsterdam but haven’t had a chance to spend time there. It’s on my list and just got bumped up a few numbers thanks to your post
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Great pictures, I love cities…people rave about the country side (me included) but city photographs have so much more going on, so much detail.
I love Amsterdam! I went there when I was a little girl with my dad and will never forget it. What a lovely place!!
)) And congrats on Freshly Pressed!
Wow! Fantastic pictures!!
Beautiful!! I want to travel so badly!
Just the sort of place a gaycarboy would feel right at home! Great shots.
Crazy beautiful place. However, I have a dumb question.
What the hell IS that thing in the first photo?
It’s a lifting bridge. There are lots of them in Amsterdam
Congratulations on being freshly pressed!
I’m really impressed by the main image of your post. The red flowers and the river behind with the boats moored on it really capture the essence of Amsterdam. I’ve always wanted to visit Amsterdam but have not managed it so far.
BTW, this is my first comment as I am new to WordPress.com.

Aw, you’re making me homesick! My mother was born in Amsterdam, and when I was a kid we went to the Netherlands every year. I haven’t been since 2007, but seeing your photos makes it feel fresh all over again.
Btw, I realize it’s too late to give you tips for this trip, but I hope you had some pancakes while you were there. If not, next time you’re in the NL, definitely stop by a pancake house! They are unparalleled.
I lived not too far from there back in the 90′s and would visit Amsterdam often. Thanks for the memories!
I WANNA VISIT AMSTERDAM!!! Not for the weed (unlike some people) -.-” but for the actual place.
The pictures around water are very well taken. Also like the shot with the bikes lined up. Great job!!
Hi Mark!
I’ve been to Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I loved it so much! It’s such a beautiful city. Thanks for sharing, it’s so nice to see the same places trough someone else’s eyes!

Thanks
PS
I just saw your Mango Salsa recipe. That looks awesome!
Assuming I can find a mango in my local shop this weekend (and I will admit I had to look up what cilantro was), I know what I will be making
Hi Mark,
Loved your photos. My husband and I travel to Europe as often as we can but haven’t gotten to Amterdam. Everyone I know who has been there really enjoy the trip. I would love to know which layout you’re using that allows you to post so many great pic. Thanks again for sharing your photos.
Mary
Hi Mary and thanks for your comments.
Like you, I have been to many European cities over the last few years (easier when I live in the UK) but Amsterdam never got a look in so when the chance came up last week, who was I to say no?
As for the layout, I just use Windows Live Writer (free download) to create my blog posts which allows me to add as many pictures as I want, sort out the layout and then upload to WordPress.
I then use Smugmug for all my main photo hosting
Take care
Mark
Gorgeous photos!
Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing! I absolutely love Amsterdam, it’s a beautiful city! I went there to celebrate my 30th
Wahou, that makes me want to travel a little bit more!

I lived here for 6 years and loved the city. A great place for photography, and I sure have plenty of pictures of this city. Now I’m in Thailand and decided to also share my pictures like you. Kind regards from http://allansjourney.wordpress.com
I want to be THERE!
Beautiful photos…
Beautiful pictures of Amsterdam that remind me of my 3-month stay at Vinkeveen:))
That’s really beautiful.
Visited Amsterdam many years ago now, it was beautiful then and obviously still is, judging by these fantastic photos. They brought back some good memories.
Yes, I was there too. And they brought back some good memories also to me. http://calogeromiratraveland.wordpress.com
